St Joseph Vocation Society
The Saint Joseph Vocation Society is an association of people committed to praying for an increase in religious vocations. In our current culture, the hardest call for young people to hear is the call to religious life – to become a priest or a consecrated religious. Therefore, young people who are drawn to these vocations need our prayers very much! It is important that those called get special attention in the prayers of the Society.
The Saint Joseph Vocations Society provides its members with prayers to say, that strengthen their resolve and multiply their efforts. Members offer prayers and sacrifices for an increase in religious vocations, and their prayerful efforts yield much fruit! As a thank you to our members, Holy Mass is offered once a month for the intentions of the members of the Society and their families. Register today and help us build a culture of vocations!

Prayer to St Joseph
O, Great St Joseph, you were completely obedient to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and accepted God’s mysterious plan for your life.
Through your intercession obtain God’s grace for all those who are called to be Priests and Deacons, religious Sisters and Brothers, and help them embrace their vocation with joy, courage and determination.
Pray for them that they may give their lives to Christ wholeheartedly as you did, and be with them as they persevere to the end, through all of life’s joys and sorrows.
St Joseph, bring all those called, especially the young, to a deeper knowledge of Christ and his Holy Mother, so that they may more easily reflect in their vocations the self-giving of Jesus and Mary.
Share with them your care for the Church whose Universal Patron you are, so that they may share with you one day, your glory in heaven.
O Great St Joseph, pray for the Church, pray for Canada, pray for our families, and for our youth, pray for vocations and pray at last for me.
Amen.
Prayer for Vocations
Lord Jesus Christ, you call each of us by name and ask us to follow you.
Bless your Church by raising up dedicated and generous men and women from our families and parishes who will serve your people as priests and deacons, as religious sisters and brothers.
Open the hearts and minds of those you have called, so that a new flowering of religious vocations may show forth the fidelity of your love and make you known as the light of the world and the hope of eternal life.
Amen.
Parish Vocation Teams
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, we are working to establish Parish Vocation Teams in every parish in the Diocese of Peterborough. If we really want to build a Culture of Vocations in our Diocese – that is, a culture where it is natural for young people to ask the question ‘what does God want me to do with my life?’ – then we need more people to help! We need you to help! And you can do so by joining your Parish Vocation Team (PVT).
These are teams of people who are gathering to pray for vocations and to do humble, manageable things in our parishes to keep Vocations in the minds of our young people. In this work, we are guided by a wonderful resource written by Rhonda Gruenewald called ‘Hundredfold: A Guide to Parish Vocation Ministry.’ Rhonda explains what parish vocation work looks like and divides the work into four types of activities; Prayer activities, Affirmation activities, Awareness and Education activities and Youth activities. Parish Vocation Teams may do something as simple as inserting a prayer for vocations in the Prayers of the Faithful at Sunday Mass – that would be a big help! So please don’t feel unqualified – be courageous and join us! Contact Father Stephen for more details or to connect with your Parish Vocation Team.
To the right, you can see the Parish Vocation Team in Assumption gathered to pray for a Holy Hour for Vocations.
